Our Nation's Capitol

Aria Dress has 3 locations: Los Angeles, Boston, and DC. Wow, DC! I am only 2 hours from DC. I called up the store, made an appointment and told my mom and my sister they needed to come with me. I met my sister half way and my mom met us there about 10 minutes after my appointment began. The DC store is just a show room to try on dress and then they give you the information so you can order your dress at a later date.

I'd have to say the showroom didn't make a very good impression. It was two rooms above a restaurant. The whole showroom was about the size of my bedroom. Tiny. The girl welcomed us in sat us down on the couch when she immediately started asking which dresses I wanted to try on. She didn't ask what month I was getting married in. What type of skirt I was looking for. She didn't even ask about the overall theme of the wedding. I felt like I was in a whirlwind and I didn't know which way was up. Luckily my sister told her what we were looking for and I was then rushed into the changing room.

This was it. The moment I had been waiting for. I was in the dress and as I was coming out of the dressing room, my mom walked in the door. The look on her face was not what I was going for and my sisters reaction wasn't either. I got to the mirror and realized what the problem was. I was fat. At least I looked fat. The dress made my waist look much wider than I actually am. It was a 6 and I was not the slim tall bride I wanted to be. I tried other dress on but none of them were anything I was looking for. I tried the original dress on again and once again there was disappointment staring back at me in the mirror. My mother describes it as "the dress was wearing me, I wasn't wearing the dress."

I wish I had photo evidence of the disaster that took place but neither my sister nor I remembered to take pictures. Probably because of the speed the lady was whisking me in and out of dresses. While I was trying on the last dress the lady helping us was packing up her things and that was our signal that our hour long appointment was being cut 15 minutes short. So we left full of disappointment.

It was back to the drawing board and I had no idea what to do next. All I knew is that I didn't want to go to David's Bridal.

Did you have an idea in your mind as to the dress you were going to get just to be disappointed once you got in it?
